How Haven Life Plus can help with back to school

How our bonus rider can help you sleep better, avoid getting sick, and find peace of mind

A black teenager smiling while taking notes from the chalkboard. Back to school concept

Back to school is here. This brings good things for you and the kids — they get to see their friends (and make new ones), you get a more consistent schedule. And potentially some less-good things — school can be stressful, and no one appreciates the earlier wake-up time.

To help you adjust to the new back-to-school routine, we wanted to spotlight some ways Haven Life Plus — the “bonus” rider that is including in the Haven Term policy that offers access to no- and low-cost services, available to eligible Haven Term policyholders — can help you sleep better, work out more consistently, and even help you see a doctor faster if you get sick.

Here are five (technically six) services, and how they could help with back-to-school.

In this article:

MinuteClinic

Schools, in addition to being institutions for learning and the exchange of ideas, are also giant petri dishes perfect for the exchange of diseases.

When a bunch of kids who haven’t seen each other for months get back together, someone is going to get sick. Use MinuteClinic, the no-appointment-needed medical clinic inside many Target and CVS locations, to make sure your kids (and you) are up to date on vaccinations, then use it again to deal with the inevitable sniffles. Through Haven Life Plus, eligible policyholders enjoy discounted service.

LifeSite

Back to school may well mean you and your kids are going to be apart more than you were a month ago, so if there’s an emergency (or a banality) that requires your child’s documents, it could be useful to have digital access to them: You can have this if you use Lifesite, which is basically a secure digital filing cabinet of unlimited capacity which you can access from anywhere via your phone.

Even if you don’t suddenly need to access your child’s medical records while on the move (or in the office), you will probably find that back-to-school generates new documents (especially if your kid is going to a new school). Lifesite is a great place to put them, and eligible Haven Term policyholders enjoy a no-cost subscription with Haven Life Plus.

Timeshifter

Whether you spent the summer traveling in a different time zone or you barely left the neighborhood, the start of the school year means a new, often truncated sleep schedule for the whole family. To make the adjustment easier, try Timeshifter, the anti-jet lag app (available at no cost for eligible Haven Term policyholders through the Haven Life Plus bonus rider) that’s built with NASA-backed science.

Although it’s inspired by travel (both within and outside our atmosphere), the app is excellent for helping you maximize rest anywhere, including your own home, by letting you set your ideal sleep schedule, then providing transitional schedules to get you there.

Aaptiv

The new school schedule doesn’t just affect your sleep: It also alters your workout time. Perhaps you’ll have more opportunities to exercise (after spending months practically tied to your kids), or perhaps you’ll have less (the kids went to camp, then they visited grandma; now you barely recognize them).

Either way, when and how much you can exercise will probably change. Use Aaptiv — Haven Life Plus includes a no-cost subscription — to re-tool your workout regime based on your new reality, whether you plan to work out in the gym, the park or the office.

Trust & Will and Lantern

This is not strictly back-to-school, but if your kid being in school has given you a little more time, try using a small amount of it to sort out your end of life plans.

Trust & Will allows you to make legally binding versions of its namesake documents without leaving the house. Lantern enables you to specify your end of life wishes, from hospital care to funeral details. Using either service is likely to be quicker than helping your kid with their homework. And frankly, it might have the potential to benefit your child more in the long run. Eligible Haven Term policyholders enjoy no-cost access to both through Haven Life Plus.

Speaking of long-term planning, we should also mention that while peace of mind is always nice to come by, it’s especially welcome as you watch your kids grow up, navigating new grades and new challenges. You may find that putting in place a term life insurance policy, which helps provide financial protection for your loved ones in case the worst should happen to you, can help you feel more at ease.
